Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the answer to my
question without notice 532.
(1) �Does the
minister recall the tabling on 16 May 2024 of a briefing note dated 17 March
2023 regarding the forced adoption inquiry and adoption record access?
(2) Does the
minister recall on 16 May 2024 informing the house that she would endeavour to
table further briefing notes following the committee's publishing of
its final report?
(3) Is the minister aware that the
final report has now been published?
(4) Will the minister now table the
further briefing notes on the inquiry since 17 March 2023?
(5) What is the current wait time
for a standard request to access adoption records?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
state government welcomes the findings and recommendations of Broken bonds,
fractured lives: Report on the inquiry into past forced adoption in Western Australia .
The state government is undertaking a considered review of the findings and
recommendations. A formal response will be provided no later than 22 October
2024.
(5) As of 17
March 2023, the average wait time was eight to 10 months. As at 31 August 2024,
the average wait time is three months.
