I refer to concerns of Carers WA, that since the Minister tabled the final report of the Review of Carers Recognition Act 2004, in November last year, there has been no action taken on the recommendations of the review, and I ask -
(1) What action has the Minister taken, in respect to each of the 16 recommendations?
(2) Has the Minister asked the Department to prepare an implementation plan for the recommendations?
(3) If yes to (2), will the Minister table the plan at the next days sitting?
(4) If no to (3), why not?

(1-4) The Minister has approved an alternative proposal on how the recommendations can best be implemented in a cost efficient way and with better outcomes for carers. The Department will be meeting with the Carers Advisory Council at their next meeting on the 16 April 2009 to discuss the implementation of the recommendations. Meetings with other stakeholders including Carers WA, the Department of Health and Disability Services Commission have been scheduled for consultation on implanting the recommendations. Once all parties have agreed to the alternative proposal I will make an announcement.
