52. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the answer to question without notice 38 asked by
me in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, 12 February 2020.
(1) Who conducted the investigation?
(2) During the investigation who did the investigators
identify as conducting studies on the rock art?
(3) During the
investigation were the consultants identified as currently conducting studies
on the rock art approached for questioning or comment?
(4) If yes to (2), who contacted the consultants, what
were they asked and what were the consultants' responses?
(5) If no to (2), why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
My answers to parts (4) and (5) refer to if the answer is yes
to (3) and no to (3), so they are answered that way. The distinction is for
that reason.
(1) It was the Department of Water and Environmental
Regulation.
(2) CBG
Solutions undertook the monitoring on behalf of Yara Pilbara as a requirement
of its commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act
1999 approval.
(3) No. The report prepared by DWER was based on
monitoring undertaken in August 2019 by CBG Solutions and provided by
Yara Pilbara.
(4) Not applicable.
(5) See response to (3).
