(3) The Commission is aware that the Auditor General recommends the consistency of ‘‘.wa.gov.au’’ domains for all government agencies. The ‘‘accesswa.com.au’’ domain is a collaborative website between the Commission and other state and local government agencies. This website was established before the recommendation regarding the use of “.wa.gov.au” domain names was made. The remaining domains were registered as a protective measure to avoid other entities using them. Had the domain names been used by other entities, the purpose and messaging associated with them may have been confused with those of the Commission.

(3) The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA) uses bgpa.wa.gov.au as its primary website. Other domains have been purchased to protect BGPA brands, including the annual Kings Park Festival and Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park, the Aspects of Kings Park retail gallery (for commercial activity); and for the Friends of Kings Park Inc, a volunteer organisation supporting the activities of the BGPA in Kings Park and Botanic Garden and conservation of Western Australian flora.
