(1) I refer to Ngalangangpum School in Warmun, and ask if there is currently a contract for provision of educational services between the Catholic Education office and the Department of Education? (2) How much funding does the Catholic Education Office receive for the provision of education services to children in the Warmun Community? (3) Who was the provider of education to children of the Warmun Community prior to the Ngalangangpum school being established in 1979? (4) Should the Catholic Education Office cease providing educational services to the Warmun Community, will the State Government fulfil its statutory obligations to set up a new school to educate the children of the Warmun community?

(1) Yes between the Department of Education Services and the Catholic Education office.
(2) In 2012/13 $642,403 (including GST) was paid for the provision of education services, through per capita grants. Funding is provided on a quarterly basis based on enrolment and attendance data submitted at the February and August Census. On the 7
th
February 2014 the school received $128,643.79.
(3) Prior to 1998 the school was a subsidiary college of St Mary's College, Broome.
(4) Although the State Government has no statutory obligation to provide schools in all locations, it does have a statutory obligation to ensure it provides education to all students. The viability of potential schools is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
