POLICE — MOBILE SPEED CAMERAS — BUSHFIRE

1457. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the placement of mobile
speed cameras on road verges and note the early onset of the high threat period
for bushfire.
(1) Is there a policy,
guideline or similar advice in relation to the positioning of mobile speed
cameras and the accompanying motor vehicle?
(2) If yes to (1), please table such
documents.
(3) With reference to (1), does any advice or guidance
address or mitigate bushfire risk associated with such activity?
(4) Are motor vehicles
involved in such operations equipped in any way to mitigate the risks of
bushfire associated with their activity?

following.
(1) Yes.
(2) The policy and guidelines cannot
be released due to operational sensitivities.
(3) Mobile speed
cameras and the vehicles involved in such operations are positioned in a way
that they do not pose a known risk for bushfire ignition.
(4) Mobile speed camera vehicles are
equipped with fire extinguishers in the event of a fire.
