FREEWAY—WIDENING
565. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the widening of Mitchell Freeway between Hepburn
Avenue and Hodges Drive.
(1) Why has
the widening taken longer than the original estimated time frame of 24 weeks?
(2) When will the widening be
completed?
(3) When will the resurfacing of the
existing lanes be completed?
(4) Does the
contract for these works have any penalties for project delays; and, if no, why
not?

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Transport, I provide the following response —
(1) Ongoing
rain has delayed completion of the required asphalt work.
(2) The
section from Hepburn Avenue to Ocean Reef Road opened to traffic last month.
The remainder is due to be completed shortly.
(3) The
resurfacing works are scheduled for completion in early 2014.
(4) Yes.
