PEEL DISTRICT — KINDERGARTEN AND PREPRIMARY PLACEMENTS
I have a supplementary question. Is it acceptable that these four and five-year-olds are now a month behind their peers, having had to wait—they are still waiting at this stage—because there is no place for them? I accept the issue of the closest school, but there is no place for them at the moment and nothing is being done to provide them with a place. Dr E. CONSTABLE

I agree with the sentiment of the member’s question and I hope that I can get the matter settled for him as soon as possible. What often happens in kindergarten and preprimary is that there is a staggered entry over the first three or four weeks; but it is not acceptable that children would have that wait and I will make sure that I follow that up.
