PRINCIPAL SHARED PATH
EXPANSION PROGRAM
1237. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the principal shared
path expansion program.
(1) What programs are in place to
retrofit lighting into the existing PSP network?
(2) What
improvements have been made to address the finding of the 2018 RAC shared path
lighting review that of the approximately 54 kilometres of PSP network
surveyed, just over 65 per cent was deemed to be noncompliant with the required
P2 lighting standard?
(3) Will the
government commit to improving lighting along the existing PSP network to be
compliant with P2 lighting standards?
(4) If no to (3), why not?

I
thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I note that this
question was asked on 12 September, so the answer is current as at that
date.
(1)–(4) As
part of large construction projects, Main Roads continues to improve the
standard of PSPs, which includes lighting. Since February 2023, an additional
4.7 kilometres of additional lighting has been in operation on the PSP network.
Upgrades to existing lighting will continue to be considered as part of the
annual budget process.
