Western Power has provided the Minister for Energy with the following response.
The locality of Roleystone is included in the Top 40 Worst Feeders program.
a) 2006 - 53 network outages
2007 - 58 network outages
b) 2006 - The shortest outage was 17.7 minutes and the longest was 7.4 hours.
2007 - The shortest outage was 2.7 minutes and the longest was 17.8 hours.
c) 2006 - The average duration of outages was 2.1 hours.
2007 - The average duration of outages was 2.9 hours.
d) 2006 - The highest number of homes affected by outages was 2231 and the lowest was 1.
2007 - The highest number of homes affected by outages was 2258 and the lowest was 2.
e) 2006 - The average number of homes affected by each outage was 273.
2007 - The average number of homes affected by each outage was 340.
f) 2006 - The primary causes of these outages were planned outages (24) and unknown causes (11) and equipment failures (6).
2007 - The primary causes of these outages were equipment failures (17), unknown causes (10) and planned outages (6).

All information provided was for the locality of Roleystone supplied from all SWIS (South West Interconnected System) distribution feeders for both calendar years 2006 and 2007.
The definitions of the fault causes listed above are:

are when customers have been given a minimum of 3 days advance notice of the outage. Planned outages are generally as a result of doing improvement works on the network.

Equipment failure
is where the condition of the equipment results in equipment failing. This also includes pole top fire incidents.

when the cause of the outage could not be determined.
