1353. Hon KATE DOUST to the
Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the recent announcement made by the Minister for
Small Business regarding the launch of a formal inquiry into the dismantling of
the Western Australian industrial relations system.
(1) Can the
minister confirm the Minister for Small Business's comments that the
state government will look to dismantle the state industrial relations system?
(2) If yes to (1), why is government pursuing this?
(3) As
industrial relations comes under the commerce portfolio, why did the Minister
for Commerce as the minister responsible not make this announcement?
(4) What
groups and peak bodies has the Minister for Commerce met with over the last
year over the transfer and the establishment of an inquiry?
(5) Can the
minister provide a start date and a completion time frame in which the formal
inquiry into the transfer will be conducted?
