containers434.Hon Julie Freemanto
theMinister for Agriculture and Food:I refer to my
question without notice asked yesterday, 24 June, regarding imported sea
containers, and the minister's response indicating that biosecurity of this
nature is a Commonwealth responsibility.(1) Does the Commonwealth provide timely advice to
the state government regarding biosecurity threats arriving by sea,
particularly in relation to inspection data and prosecutions?(2) If such advice is provided, what form does
that communication take?(3) What is the typical timeframe between the
detection of a biosecurity hazard by Commonwealth authorities and the
notification to the relevant state authorities?
