(1)
The Sail Training Ship Leeuwin was used by the Juvenile Justice system when Juvenile Justice was part of Department of Child Protection (DCP), and during the 1990's when Juvenile Justice first separated from DCP. Since the Juvenile Justice system has fallen within the responsibility of the Department of Corrective Services, three young offenders serving community orders through Albany Community Justice Services participated on the Sail Training Ship Leeuwin in order to develop their skills to work as part of a team and to achieve goals.
(2)
The Sail Training Ship Leeuwin has never been utilised for a juvenile detainee whilst they were subject to active Sentence of Detention.
(3)
No formal analysis on the outcomes of using the Sail Training Ship Leeuwin has been conducted.
