LANDGATE — LAND REGISTRATION SYSTEM
757. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Lands:
I refer to my previous question 579,
asked on 18 May, regarding the average Landgate turnaround times for each
document type. The response I received indicated it would be too laborious to
provide that information. Therefore, can the minister please provide the
average turnaround time for the document types listed on Landgate's
website, under the heading of ''Lodgement turnaround times'' for
each year from 2017 to 2023?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Lands.
There are 82 document types within
the land registration system, with more than two million documents received
over the period from 2017 to 2023. For the 2022–23 financial year, Landgate
received 407 952 documents. Of these, more
than 32 400 transfers were lodged, with 94 per cent automatically registered
within minutes of lodgement . To answer
the honourable member's question in full, Landgate would have to
examine and extract data on all 82 document types, which is not
considered a reasonable use of government resources. However, if the honourable
member has a more specific question, the minister will endeavour to provide an
answer.
