(2) The Health Department advised in July 2001 that current health related water quality exceptions to the1996 Australian Drinking Water Guidelines can be tolerated in the short term on the understanding that relevant treatment or source improvements would be introduced by the Water Corporation in the next 1-3 years. In the case of Preston Beach, a recent $1.3 million upgrade project has significantly improved water quality. A planning report for improved water supply to Binningup and Myalup has just been completed and communities will be briefed on the options in the next month. Improvements will be scheduled to meet Health Department requirements.
