MENTAL HEALTH CO-RESPONSE
SERVICE — REGIONAL AREAS
1043. Hon ALISON XAMON to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the government's
commitment to expand the police mental health co-response program to regional
areas.
(1) Has a timetable and/or priority
regions for the rollout been developed?
(2) If yes to (1), please table the schedule.
(3) When is it anticipated that
co-response teams will be available in Geraldton?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The
planning for the expansion of the mental health co-response team is currently
underway. A steering group including WA police, the Mental Health Commission
and the WA Country Health Service has been established to provide oversight and
advice, based on research and feasibility information, into the development of
service models for the expansion of the mental health co-response service into
regional Western Australia. The operational details are currently being
considered as part of this planning process.
