PRISONS — METHADONE MAINTENANCE THERAPY REGIME
703. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the Attorney General representing the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the methadone maintenance therapy regime in the
state's prisons.
(1) What is the volume of each individual dose of methadone
distributed in the state's prisons?
(2) On Monday,
23 June 2014, what number of individual doses of methadone was distributed in
each prison in the state?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the Minister for Corrective Services, I thank
the honourable member for notice of this question.
(1) The volume
of each individual dose of methadone varies from one patient to another.
Obtaining this information, and the number of individual doses of methadone,
would require a manual search by a pharmacist and other staff to examine
individual patient files across the state. This would divert an unreasonable
amount of resources.
(2) Doses were
available for 248 patients. This does not include doses distributed at the
privately-run prisons.
