(a) The $10 million Family Strength initiative comprises:
Three Best Beginnings home visiting services - $2.4 million
Three Aboriginal Early Years Support services - $1.4 million
The Men’s Resource Service - $700,000
Two Aboriginal In-Home Support Services - $600,000
Eleven KidsPlus services - $4.9 million
Family Strength funds allocated to date to country, metropolitan and statewide locations are:
Kalgoorlie – $0.9 million
Mungullah - $0.3 million
Metropolitan – $3.2 million
Statewide - $0.7 million
The locations of the $4.9 million KidsPlus services have not been announced but a proportion will be allocated to country areas, including the North West.
(b) Best Beginnings home visiting services funded from Family Strength are located at Kalgoorlie, Armadale-Kelmscott and the North West Metropolitan area.
Aboriginal Early Years Support Services funded from Family Strength will be located at Kalgoorlie, Armadale-Kelmscott and the North West Metropolitan area.
The Men’s Resource Service is a statewide service and will include a satellite service in the North West.
Aboriginal In-Home Support Services will be located at the Mungullah Community and Kwinana.
The locations for KidsPlus services will be announced shortly.
(c) Funds for the Best Beginnings home visiting services are administered by the Department for Community Development.
Funds for the Aboriginal Early Years Support Services, the Men’s Resource Service, the Aboriginal In-Home Support Services and the KidsPlus services are or will be administered by the non-Government sector.
(d) The Best Beginnings home visiting services and the Men’s Resource Service have commenced.
Non–Government providers are currently being selected for the Aboriginal Early Years Support services and the Aboriginal In-Home Support services.
The implementation of local KidsPlus services will commence by local communities using a community development process shortly
