2. Before the Peel Region Scheme can be tabled in Parliament, the appeals received on the environmental assessment for the Scheme are required to be determined by the Hon Minister for the Environment and Heritage. More than 20 environmental appeals were received in relation to the proposed Scheme. The appeals raised numerous complex environmental issues that required further investigations. These investigations have been completed and the appeals will be determined by the Hon Minister for the Environment and Heritage shortly. Upon the appeals being determined, the environmental conditions required for the implementation of the Scheme can be set and the Scheme can then be considered by the Western Australian Planning Commission and myself, and subsequently forwarded to the Governor for approval and tabling in Parliament.
