I refer to the Pilbara Underground Power Project, and I ask: (a) what is the current total allocated budget for the project; (b) how much has been spent to date; (c) is it expected that the final cost of the project will: (i) meet the allocated budget; (ii) exceed the allocated budget or; and (iii) come in under the allocated budget; and (d) if yes to (c) (iii), will the Minister commit to returning any surplus funds directly to the ratepayers of the relevant Local Government Authority and if not, why not?

(c) The current forecast cost at completion shows that the PUPP will come in under the total allocated budget.
(d) Any funds not required to complete the PUPP will be returned to the funding partners in line with decisions of the External Steering Committee which comprises of representatives from those same funding partners. (Please note that returning funds directly to ratepayers is a matter for the relevant Local Government Authority.)
