(a) I am advised that reserve 30656 for 'Quarry Lime Sand' that is the subject of this application is vested with the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River. In accordance with the
Mining Act 1978
the normal practice is for the Department of Mines and Petroleum to refer the application to the Shire and the Minister responsible for the reserve for their recommendations.
(b) This question should be directed to the Minister for Mines and Petroleum.
(c) The Draft Management Plan for the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Capes Area Parks and Reserves, released for public comment on 10 December 2010, proposes that reserve 30656 be added to the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.
(d)-(f) It is expected that the Department of Mines and Petroleum would refer any mining proposal that may have a significant effect on the environment to the Environmental Protection Authority in accordance with their memorandum of understanding.
