The Minister Replied:
(a) The placement of these wire rope barriers does not contravene the relevant Australian Design Rules. Main Roads Western Australia typically requires road safety barrier installations to be in accordance with:
- Australian/New Zealand Standard 3845:1999 - Road Safety Barrier Systems;
- New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority Road Design Guide section 6 (1996) - Safety Barriers for Roads and Bridges;
- American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (1996) - Roadside Design Guide.
(b)-(c) As stated above, the sites mentioned do not breach the Australian design rules.
