I remind the Premier of his commitment to open and accountable government. In the interests of integrity and honesty, will the Premier amend the terms of reference of the Royal Commission Into Whether There Has Been Any Corrupt or Criminal Conduct by Western Australian Police Officers to provide an early interim report to Parliament on any allegations made against any minister of the Crown? Dr G.I. GALLOP

The five days are up and I have made it very clear to the people of Western Australia the respect I have for Justice Geoffrey Kennedy as the royal commissioner and the decisions he makes about which issues he will look into, whether he goes into closed hearings and whether he issues suppression orders. It is about time members of the Opposition showed the same respect. This is not about the accountability of the Government of Western Australia; this is about the credibility of the Opposition. Mr R.F. Johnson: Answer the questions. Dr G.I. GALLOP: I have answered the questions. I have quoted the legal basis to the answers I have given. I have indicated that the royal commission has not raised any matters with the Government or any of its ministers that require attention. Mr C.J. Barnett: Is that right? Dr G.I. GALLOP: I told the Leader of the Opposition that five times in my answer to the earlier question. It has not got through to him. The Leader of the Opposition has set his course. He has set the sails; he has the boat going in one direction. He is putting the coal into the engine room and he will be judged on the course he sets. We know what he is doing and why he is doing it. He is showing the people of Western Australia why he is not an appropriate person to ever be Premier of this State.
