(a) and (b) My announcement of 26 November 2001 regarding the Drummond Nature Reserve brought to six the number of catchments that have been designated as natural diversity recovery catchments under the State Salinity Strategy. Their names, locations and catchment areas are as follows;
Lake Toolibin, east of Narrogin - 45,000 hectares
Muir-Unicup Lakes, east of Manjimup - 69,400 hectares
Lake Warden System, adjacent to Esperance - 171,000 hectares
Lake Bryde Complex, near Nyabing - 110,770 hectares
Buntine-Marchagee Catchment, south-west of Perenjori - 180,000 hectares
Drummond Nature Reserve Catchment, west of Bolgart - 39,500 hectares
(c) The natural diversity recovery catchments program budget was $385,000 in 1997/98 and $2.5 million in each of 1998/99, 1999/2000 and 2000/01. These funds were spent on the recovery catchments as well as on some related programs such as the biological survey of the agricultural region which provides the data on which the nomination of further recovery catchments is based.
For a detailed account of the program and its achievements I refer the Member to the Department of Conservation and Land Management publication 'State Salinity Action Plan 1996 - Review of the Department of Conservation and Land Management's Programs: January 1997 to June 2000'.
