The Department of Housing advises:
(a)-(d) The underlying premise of the question indicates that the member may not have understood the purpose and direction of the Housing 2020 document.
The primary goal going forward is to stimulate access to affordable housing, with the aspiration of providing 20,000 new dwellings by 2020 -largely outside the public housing system. This will be done by simultaneously addressing demand and improving the supply of options along an 'affordable housing continuum'.
(Housing 2020, pg 4).
Meeting the Housing 2020 aspirational target is based on promoting growth and partnerships with community housing service providers and the private sector, and increasing the supply of (affordable) land and housing options.
