The review of the Code of Practice for Pigs commenced in November 2003 and is currently close to completion. Western Australia's representative on the Animal Welfare Working Group (the national group which writes and reviews animal welfare codes of practice) is a member of the Review Group for the Code of Practice for Pigs. The contents of the post cards and the number received was passed to the Review Group for their consideration. A draft of the new Code of Practice for Pigs has been completed and preparation of a Regulatory Impact Statement for the proposed new code is in progress.
