Prisoners—Escapes
891. Hon Nick Goiran to
the parliamentary secretary representing the
Attorney General:
I refer to the
parliamentary secretary's answer on 14 October 2025 to question without notice
825, in which the Attorney General invoked gold-standard secrecy by refusing to
table any outline of the findings and outcome of the investigation into the
escape from custody of Robert Kevin McCullough.
(1) Does the parliamentary secretary recall that
Parliament has previously been told that the Attorney General had requested an
investigation into the escape and that the investigation was due to be
concluded on 19 September 2025?
(2) Is the parliamentary secretary aware that
three investigations remain ongoing into three earlier escapes, but without any
completion date?
(3) Will the Attorney General take steps to invoke
gold-standard accountability and ensure that a date is set forthwith for these
investigations and Parliament is promptly informed?
