I refer to the Minister's answer to my question on notice Nos 15 and 16(e) asked at the Budget Estimates hearing held on 8 June 2012, and ask —
(1) Does the Minister's answer relate to the 2012-13 financial year or for the next four years?
(2) How does the Minister reconcile his answer to his media release, dated 1 June 2012, which states that over the next four years 28 additional positions will be created and the contracts of 75 seasonal contracts will be extended?

The Minister for Environment has provided the following response.
(1) The Minister's responses outline the indicative budget and new position allocations for 2012/13. Similar allocations are planned for the forward estimate years, but adjustments may be made as required.
(2) The Minister's media statement referred to the employment of up to 28 more specialist fire officer positions and also contract extensions for up to 75 seasonal employees. There is no discrepancy between the Budget Estimates answers and the media statement.
