SCHOOLS — ANTI-VAPING TOOLKIT
563. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer the minister to The West
Australian newspaper of 10 June, which promoted the launch of the
government's anti-vaping campaign. In the article, the minister lauded
the materials being made available to teachers and students that vaping, and I quote, is ''very
addictive'', ''linked to serious lung disease'' and that ''vapes
can leave a young person at increased risk of depression and anxiety''.
(1) Can the minister please advise
what scientific evidence backs these claims?
(2) Can the
minister table in the house all the health and other scientific studies used to
justify the sweeping statements contained in the toolkit that is being
distributed as part of the vaping scare campaign?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) I table a copy of
the vaping evidence summary from the anti-vaping toolkit.
I point out to the honourable member
that if she had looked at the toolkit, she would have seen at the back an eight-page document providing a summary and
links to every single bit of evidence that was relied upon to put the
toolkit together.
