In relation to Lake Claremont (formerly known as Butlers Swamp) where there was no Section 18 application or consent to damage, alter, disturb and excavate a registered Aboriginal site by Claremont Town Council for earth works in the lake. Lake Claremont is a highly significant religious site to Aboriginal people. I ask the Minister -
(1) Will he pursue a prosecution for breach of the
Aboriginal Heritage Act
?
(2) Is he aware that Nyungah Elders asked the Town of Claremont to consult with them in October 2000?
