ELECTRICITY
— OUTAGES — COMPENSATION
596. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Energy:
I refer to the current compensation scheme for power outages
over 12 hours long.
(1) Does the
minister believe that the current compensation scheme, which entitles those who
suffer from a prolonged outage to up to $120 an event, is sufficient?
(2) Is he
satisfied with the process in place for those who suffer financial cost in
excess of the maximum compensation to request a higher amount?

(1)–(2)
I believe that it is a good scheme. It is above or equal to all the schemes in
every other state in Australia and it is double what was provided by the former
Liberal government.
