207. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the overseas recruitment
program for police officers.
(1) How many officers have
currently been recruited as a result of the program?
(2) Of those referred to in (1), how many are —
(i) male;
(ii) female; or
(iii) other?
(3) What incentives above salary are
offered to new recruits?
(4) What has been the total cost of
the program to date?

The Western Australia Police Force
advises —
(1) There have been 115
(2) (i) There are 93.
(ii) There are 22.
(iii) Zero.
(3) The following
incentives are offered to officers transitioning from other jurisdictions: the
reimbursement of primary applicant visa cost, the recognition of prior service,
the expedited transitional training course and the ability to salary package
relocation costs.
(4) The estimated cost is $2.3 million.
