BUILDING COMMISSION —
SUBCONTRACTORS — ECONSTRUCT
1030. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for
Commerce:
I refer to the current complaint against Econstruct being investigated
by the Building Commission.
(1) Given that those who initially lodged
the complaint in December 2015 have been advised by the Building Commission
that they will need to wait until the end of 2016 to have documentation
submitted for review to the building services board and then will have to have
the complaint upheld by the State Administrative Tribunal and, following that,
if they are successful with the Building Commission's legal department,
the outcome that will hold Econstruct to account for non‑payment will not
feasibly happen until the end of 2017, will the minister seek to expedite this
complaint to be resolved in a more timely manner for these home builders?
(2) How does the minister intend to reduce
the many hurdles faced by consumers when making a valid complaint through the
Building Commission?

(1)–(2) As I understand it,
this question is without notice?
Hon Kate Doust : Yes.
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : I think it will be no surprise if I thank
the honourable member for the question and suggest that it be put on notice so
that I will be able to investigate the specific complaint.
