WESFARMERS — BUSINESS PRACTICES
Given that Wesfarmers, trading as Kleenheat Gas, has been successfully prosecuted by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for misleading and deceptive commercial dealings over the supply and pricing of bulk liquid petroleum gas to 186 customers, mostly small businesses, I ask — (1) Please provide details of how many Western Australian small businesses were victims of these misleading and deceptive practices and how many of those businesses were in regional WA? (2) Has the minister asked Wesfarmers to explain what measures it has put in place to ensure that similar misleading and deceptive practices will not be repeated in Western Australia; and, if not, why not? I am certainly unaware of any Western Australian businesses that have been caught up in that action. As I have indicated to the member for Avon privately, I will follow that up and see whether any Western Australian businesses have been affected by that action and provide him with that information tomorrow.
