I refer the minister to the announcement by North Midlands Health Service of the imminent closure of the Lady Brand Lodge aged care facility. (1) Is the minister aware that the three current residents have no suitable alternative facility to relocate to within their region? (2) Is the minister aware that plans to renovate a wing of the North Midlands District Hospital for an aged care facility are in the early conceptual stage, meaning a facility for aged care residents is at least two years away? (3) Will the minister therefore intervene to ensure that the residents of Lady Brand Lodge are not forced to either leave their region or utilise hospital ward accommodation locally, but can reside in appropriate locally-based aged care facilities until the aged care facility at the North Midlands District Hospital is complete? Mr J.A. McGINTY

(1)-(3) I have been bowled a googly. I know absolutely nothing about the matters to which the member refers. I must be honest about that. I will endeavour to find the answer to the member’s question. I am sorry, but I simply do not know. Mr R.A. Ainsworth: I know that a letter was sent to you dated 24 October. I assumed you would know about it by now. Mr J.A. McGINTY: I am sorry, I do not know.
