I refer to the Corruption and Crime Commission Hearings of March 14 2005, when the former Minister for Racing and Gaming’s Chief of Staff, Graham Burkett, said ‘the only thing that I know about was the Burswood dealings and the Packer dealings and everyone was sworn to absolute secrecy, and I’ve certainly played the share market, and I don’t know that any of the staff would have’, and ask -
(1) Has any investigation been undertaken to establish whether there was insider trading of Burswood or PBL shares by Mr Burkett and any other Ministerial staff?
(2) If not, why not?
(3) If there was an investigation, will the Minister advise if any of the former Racing and Gaming Minister’s staff had invested in Burswood or PBL shares at the time that confidential information was disclosed to the Minister’s office?
(4) If yes to (3) above, will the Minister provide the following details for each staff member found to have purchased shares -
(a) when were those shares purchased;
(b) how many shares were purchased; and
(c) were those shares sold and if so, when were those shares sold?
(5) Are the former Minister’s staff currently employed in Ministerial offices?
(6) If yes to (3) above, -
(a) which officers;
(b) which Ministerial offices; and
(c) at what level?
