The minister announced yesterday that the anti-poker machine Carpenter government would agree to the installation of an extra 250 gaming machines and an extra 35 gaming tables at the Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd-owned Burswood Casino. (1) Is this a trade-off by the government to PBL for outlawing the betting exchange Betfair in Western Australia? (2) If Burswood is to contribute approximately $15 million to the Swan and Canning Rivers conservation project over the next five years, how much will it contribute to the victims of gaming-induced poverty and neglect?
