HEALTH — SPECIALISED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
137. Hon
JAMES HAYWARD to the minister representing the Minister for Health:
I
refer to the WAtoday article of 15 May titled ''Waiting six hours with a
bleeding bowel: Leaked email exposes the extent of WA's health
crisis'' and the claim that the health system is experiencing a severe
shortage of specialised medical equipment.
(1) How many instances have occurred in 2021 to date
whereby hospitals have had to resource share s pecialised medical
equipment, and how many of those have resulted in patient medical emergencies?
(2) How many
instances have occurred in 2021 to date whereby practitioners in different
departments within a hospital have been delayed due to resource sharing?
(3) Does the
minister receive information about these occurrences from each health service
provider; and, if yes, how frequently does this occur and what action is taken
to escalate the issues raised?
(4) If no to (3), has the minister previously
received this information and when did he stop receiving the information?
