I refer to the Pickering Brook Sports Club’s lease of the golf course land managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), and I ask: (a) how much does the DBCA currently spend on an annual basis, to maintain and manage the Pickering Brook golf course site; (b) can the Minister provide a breakdown of these costs, including staffing, maintenance, and any other operational expenses; (c) how many site visits has the DBCA conducted at the Pickering Brook golf course in the past three financial years, and for what purpose; and (d) are there any plans to review the lease arrangements or consider a reduced or peppercorn lease for community-run clubs like the Pickering Brook Sports Club?

(a)-(b) It is assumed that the questions relate to the lease granted to Pickering Brook Sports Club Incorporated, being Lease 1129/97 granted under the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984 . The lease permits a golf course and requires the lessee to manage and maintain the lease area. The lease area covers part of the golf course, and the remaining area is vested with the City of Kalamunda. Given the lease and vesting arrangements, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) does not spend any funds on maintaining and managing the Pickering Brook golf course.
(c) DBCA has not undertaken any site visits to the Pickering Brook golf course in the past three financial years.
(d) The lease rent has been set at a rate consistent with those applied to community organisations, including the Pickering Brook Sports Club. DBCA remains open to discussing the lease arrangements with the lessee at any time.
