(2) St John Ambulance Western Australia has moved to the third stage of ambulance ramping three times this year. (3) Monday, 26 November 2007, and two additional occasions in September 2007. (4) Ramping occurs when hospitals are unable to accept a patient handover at that time from paramedics. Third stage ambulance ramping is when 10 or more ambulances are ramped at emergency departments at any one time. Patients waiting in these ambulances are cared for by the ambulance’s paramedics.
