I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. (1) Leinster Police Station does not have video surveillance in the custodial area. On the very few occasions when a person is held for brief periods while bail considerations occur, one officer is assigned to ensure that WA Police custodial care requirements are met. In normal circumstances, when prisoners are required to be detained for longer periods, they will be conveyed to Leonora Police Station some 130 kilometres away. (2) Upgrades of lockup facilities are undertaken through the custodial upgrade program. Due to other higher priorities for upgrades statewide and to the low number of detainees held in this station—approximately six a year—this upgrade has not been given as high a priority as have upgrades in other locations statewide.
