I have a supplementary question. (1) Is the Premier aware that every day he fails to table that letter, he continues to betray the whistleblower? (2) Has the Premier even read the letter? Dr G.I. GALLOP

AnswerView source ↗

(1)-(2) I have read the letter. I have given a commitment to not only that particular employee of the Department of Health but also other employees that if they raise issues of this nature, they will receive a full and comprehensive response. The person who wrote that letter to me was given a full and comprehensive response. I received another letter questioning some elements of that response. As I said to the member, I am considering that matter. I have treated people very honestly in this matter. That has meant providing a full and comprehensive response to the issues they have raised. I compare that with the response of the Opposition when it was in power. It conducted a witch-hunt against a Main Roads employee, and a teacher was suspended for daring to criticise the now Leader of the Opposition. That is what happened under the coalition’s jurisdiction. We comprehensively and fully deal with the issues that are raised.
