782. Hon DARREN WEST to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to question
718 asked on 18 June 2015.
(1) When was
the Minister for Health or his department first advised that funding from the
commonwealth would be made available for the Geraldton cancer centre?
(2) What is
the total amount being provided through the health and hospital fund national
partnership agreement?
(3) Are other
commonwealth funds being provided; and, if yes, how much and from what source?
(4) How much
is the state government providing for the centre?
(5) Are other
funds from any other source being made available; and, if yes, how much and
from what source?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) The WA
Country Health Service was advised in November 2010 by the commonwealth that
funding for the Geraldton cancer centre would be made available under the
health and hospitals fund regional cancer centres initiative.
(2) Under the
health and hospitals fund RCC initiative $5.48 million has been provided, with
$4.1 million allocated to the Geraldton cancer centre and $1.38 million
allocated to hostel accommodation in Geraldton.
(3) No.
(4) Nil.
(5) A $426 544
donation from a private citizen was made for the specific use on costs related
to the Geraldton cancer centre's chemotherapy unit.
