PERTH MARKET — SALE
1407. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the Minister for
Agriculture and Food:
I will not be incited, Mr President. I ask —
(1) Have any staff in the office of
the Minister for Agriculture and Food had any concerns raised with them by
industry regarding the sale of the Perth market in Canning Vale?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) what were the concerns;
(b) on what dates were the concerns
raised with the minister's staff; and
(c) on what dates did the minister's
staff advise him of the concerns?
(3) What action has the minister
taken to address the concerns?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) My office has
had a number of discussions with growers and industry representatives about the
sale process since the sale was announced.
(2) A wide
range of views have been expressed, but the general consensus is that the
industry wants to work with the government to ensure the industry can continue
to grow.
(3) Relevant
issues and ideas have been advised by my staff to the Treasurer's
office, the Department of Treasury and the Department of Agriculture and Food.
