SURVEILLANCE
DEVICES — COMMONWEALTH ADVICE
40. Hon WILSON TUCKER to
the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the Australian government's removal of
more than 900 Chinese-made surveillance cameras, intercoms, electronic entry
systems and similar devices from 250 commonwealth departments and agencies.
(1) Has the state government received advice from the
commonwealth that these devices may pose a risk?
(2) Has the state government commenced an audit of
departments, agencies and offices that may have Hikvision or Dahua
devices installed?
(3) If yes to (2), when will that audit be completed?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The
Western Australian government continues to seek advice from the commonwealth
government on national security matters. The WA government will appropriately
consider the advice, as it does on any national security matter.
