BUS DEPOT —
CRAIGIE
484. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the proposed new bus depot on Water Corporation
land in Craigie.
(1) What other locations were considered for this depot?
(2) If none, why not?
(3) What is the annual cost to lease the land?
(4) What consideration was given to
the impacts of the depot on local residents?
(5) Why are the guidelines for the
location of bus depots not being followed?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1)–(2)
No other sites were considered due to the ideal positioning of the site and its
suitability to construct a bus depot.
(3) The annual cost is $339 280,
excluding GST.
(4) Full
consideration was given to the impact of the bus depot on local residents.
Community feedback was sought by the City of Joondalup from residents in the
vicinity of the bus depot.
(5) The
Western Australian Planning Commission considered that the potential impact of
the bus depot would be minimal due to the proposed mitigation strategies to be
adopted by the Public Transport Authority.
