What moves have been made to implement the Allen report’s recommendations for dealing with the problem of wild dogs? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Agriculture Protection Board considered the initial recommendations of the Allen report, released in June 2003, and decided that industry and the general public should be given the opportunity to provide comment and submissions on the review. The submission period closed on 15 August 2003. The APB is collating and reviewing submissions and will finalise a report for me after its meeting on 27 August 2003. I will make a further statement on this matter after I receive the report. The member will be aware that in the interim, and partly in response to the consultation process following the release of the report, I have made certain announcements on dog control in the Shire of Laverton.
