The Member may be interested to know that an air quality assessment was conducted using an internationally accepted air dispersion model (CAL3QHCR) that considered construction impacts and heavy vehicle use on Roe 8 up until 2031.
Predicted toxins from heavy vehicle exhaust emissions would be well below current levels in the local atmosphere. In addition it predicted that diesel emissions (particulates) produced, would be well below the National Environmental Protection Measure (NEPM) ambient air quality criteria.
Additional air quality factors include:
• Heavy vehicles using the Roe Highway extension will bypass six sets of traffic lights, reducing stop-start traffic and exhaust emissions.
• Emissions that may be produced in line with Perth Freight Link are regarded as minor in comparison to existing levels. This is detailed in the Roe Highway Extension PER in 2011 (Appendix V).
Department of Transport
(1) No.
(2)(a)-(e) Not applicable
Main Roads Western Australia
(1) Yes.
(2)(a) 2010 bySouth Metro Connect (SMC).
(b) AECOM (SMC).
(c) Unable to determine - part of overall SMC cost.
(d) 2010.
(e) The report has been in the public domain since the release of the Roe Highway Extension PER in 2011 (Appendix V). It is accessible via website
