AVIATION RESCUE
FIREFIGHTING SERVICE — AIRSERVICES AUSTRALIA REVIEW
841. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency
Services:
I refer to concerns raised by the
United Professional Firefighters Union aviation branch in relation to a circular
issued by Airservices Australia on 16 June 2023 seeking to redefine the role of
the aviation rescue firefighting service, including at Perth Airport.
(1) Is the minister
aware of the now withdrawn circular by Airservices Australia and the concerns
raised by the UPFU?
(2) How is the
Department of Fire and Emergency Services positioned to respond to a potential
increase in primary responsibility at Perth Airport for non-aviation response?
(3) Will the
minister or DFES make representation to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority's
regulatory review in respect to aviation rescue firefighting services and their
domestic response capability in WA?
(4) Will the
minister please table any correspondence between Airservices Australia and the
state government in relation to this issue?
