The Executive Director Public Health has not objected to any Small Bar licences since they were introduced.
The terms 'objection' and 'intervention' have specific meanings under the
Liquor Control Act 1988.
The Executive Director Public Health has used statutory provisions under the
Liquor Control Act 1988
to intervene to minimise harm and ill-health in relation to a small number of these licences.
As at 28 February 2012, the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor have advised that 77 applications for new Small Bars have been lodged since 7 May 2007.
Of the 77 applications received, the Executive Director Public Health has intervened on six, with five of the interventions seeking harm minimisation conditions on the licence.
(a) Of the six applications where the Executive Director Public Health lodged interventions, three applications were granted with conditions and two have not yet been determined. One application was deemed invalid and struck out by the Director of Racing, Gaming and Liquor.
